Urn 2777 reconstruction

Robin Rojas-Cheatham

Finding the urns of Spong Hill allowed for a further developed understanding of the origins of the Anglo-Saxon people with respect to both religion and motherland.  Another discovery was the use of the urns and the part they contribute in paying respect to the dead as well as the uses of the urns prior to their use in the storage of the dead.  From the first-hand experience creating a model of urn 2777 from Spong Hill,  it has been demonstrated that, is particular importance of details, even some, such as height that contribute to the urns’ role in paying respect to the place they hold for the dead.  Spong hill and the urns within the historic location have provided insight into the life and values of the Anglo-Saxon people, and the creation of models has helped to dive into the details of those values of their life.  Recreating Urn 2777 has taught me the value of the art of clay and how well it has been preserved, also the attention to detail when it came to looking at the object and how much more clearly one has to look when recreating it.
